I don’t know about you, but I tend to get through a lot of tea and coffee in a day. This means that I have spent an awful lot of my life waiting for kettles to boil, getting distracted, wandering off, remembering that I was making a drink, heading back to the kitchen, and having to re-boil the kettle as the water had cooled (repeat).
Last Christmas my mum gave my wife and I a one cup, boil-on-demand, hot water dispenser. It was very well received. You see the problem with boiling a kettle to make a hot drink, even if you only boil it once, is that you always have to heat more water than you are going to use. This is a horribly inefficient way to do things. The one cup dispenser solves this problem. You still have to wait, but you never heat more water than you need.
A couple of months after receiving this gift I joined the team at sinks-taps.com. On my first day I was shown around the building, introduced to my new colleagues, informed of where all of the emergency exits were located, and shown the kitchen. It was in the kitchen that I first encountered an instant hot water dispenser. It was an InSinkErator HC-1100. This little beauty could provide an instant flow of filtered water, heated to 98°C at a rate of up to 100 cups an hour. Not a kettle in sight, no waiting, no waste. In my mind, this was the next best thing to having a bottomless cup of tea/coffee.
Considering the fact that the United Kingdom consumes more tea per capita than any other country in the world, the amount of time and energy that could be saved by replacing a significant proportion of the country’s kettles with instant hot water dispensers would be immense. Add to this the fact that these taps can not only be used to make drinks - they can also be used in cooking, cleaning, literally everything that you would use a regular kettle for - and you realise the potential time and energy saving is even greater.
New models and designs are being brought out all of the time, including Franke’s new Minerva 3-in-1 Kettle Tap which was announced this year. It’s not hard to imagine a day when none of us have to participate in that most tedious of tasks: waiting for the kettle to boil.
Right, all this talk of hot drinks has made me thirsty. I’m off to make a cuppa. It won’t take long.

Sinks-Taps.com reduces delivery charges for Scotland

Sinks-Taps.com, which is in its 10th year of trading, has reduced delivery costs for heavy and fragile goods delivered to Scotland in a bid to see increased orders across the Scottish border.
The Yorkshire based online retailer of sinks and taps is home to over 6,000 products which are all available to purchase online with delivery available across the UK.
Delivering as far as John O’Groats, Sinks-Taps.com is now looking to see more Scottish customers purchase from the site, backed by the reduced delivery costs and the hundreds of testimonials the retailer receives.
Richard Broadbent, the Managing Director of the successful online company said, “Reducing delivery costs for our Scottish customers it a great way to say thank you for their continued business and encourage more people in Scotland to purchase from Sinks-Taps.
“We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and competitive prices. This measure to reduce delivery costs is just another way of showing that we listen to our customers and reduce costs where possible. We aim to ensure our customers are getting the best possible service at the most affordable prices.”
The UK’s largest online retailer of sinks and taps delivers all heavy and fragile goods using its own home delivery team of uniformed, professional staff in branded vans.
Unlike others, the retailer opens and inspects all goods upon arrival into the warehouse and again on delivery with the customer. For more information on the product ranges and delivery to Scotland, visit www.sinks-taps.com.

KAD Group focuses on delivering to Ireland
UK’s largest online retailer of sinks and taps is now focusing its attention to customers in Ireland.
Back in May of this year, the sink and tap retailer based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, launched its home delivery service to customers in Southern Ireland.
Delivering within a 50 mile radius of Dublin, the company wants to provide customers across the waters with the same unique service mainland UK customers are accustomed to.
Logistics Manager, Simon Nelson, who is driving forward the home delivery service said, “Since May we have seen a steady flow of Southern Ireland customers ordering from us. We aim to see demand increase so we can start delivering throughout the whole of Southern Ireland, ideally on a weekly basis.
“We pride ourselves on being the best and that’s why we introduced our own fleet of home delivery vans to ensure all of our products reach our customers in perfect condition. Unlike others, we inspect all goods coming into the warehouse before repackaging and dispatching. Our delivery drivers will then inspect the goods with the customer on delivery.”
The online retailer has been established since 1999 and currently offers nearly 10,000 products on its dedicated sinks and taps website, www.sinks-taps.com.
The company, which is part of the KAD Group, retails kitchen appliances through its sister site, www.kitchen-appliances-direct.com, which also offers delivery to Southern Ireland customers.
